I have received a bill to my property addressed to the Occupier. What does this mean?

If you have received a bill from Tango Energy addressed to The Occupier, this means that Tango Energy is currently the retailer responsible for billing the site, however, we do not have you listed as our customer.

As we do not yet have your details, we must address the bill to The Occupier. However, this does not absolve you of financial responsibility for your energy consumption and connection of electricity at the property.

Please also keep in mind that, if you do not sign up with an energy retailer and/or fail to pay your Occupier debt, we may disconnect the energy supply at your property.

Why is Tango Energy the retailer/ How do they have my site before I have signed up?

Before signing up to any retailer, your energy consumption and connection is managed by the existing retailer that was last to bill the site, this may have been with a previous tenant or owner of the property. This will be charged at standing rates per the Deemed Agreement. To explain what a Deemed Agreement is: effectively, you contract with the existing energy retailer by default when you move to a property, and this arrangement persists until you sign up for a specific plan with an energy retailer. This can be the existing retailer or another retailer.

Again, despite the bill not having your name on it, you are financially responsible for the energy you consume. If you have moved into a property midway through the Occupier billing period, please let us know and we may be able to reissue the bill to only cover your usage only.

What if I have already signed up with a new retailer for this property?

If you have signed up with a different retailer for this property then the Occupier account with Tango Energy will be closed off and the billing rights for the address will be transferred to the retailer of your choice. Please ensure that your retailer has successfully raised a request to transfer the site to them so that there are no interruptions to your connection.
