What do you need to do?
Residential customers

The rebate will be automatically paid as a credit to your electricity bill in quarterly instalments, starting from 9 July 2024 (QLD) and 19 August 2024 (NSW, VIC, SA). The exact timing will vary based on your billing cycle.
You should see the rebate on your next bill issued after the start date for your state.
Small business customers
If you are a small business customer with annual electricity consumption at or below the specified threshold, no action is needed to receive the rebate.
The first instalment will be applied automatically from 31 July (QLD) and 19 August (NSW, SA). The exact timing will vary based on your billing cycle. You should see the rebate on your next bill issued after the start date for your state.
For small business customers in Victoria $325 will be applied automatically on 19 August 2024. You should see the rebate on your next bill issued after that date.
If you are a small business customer exceeding the consumption threshold set by your state or territory, you will not qualify for the rebate.

If you are a residential customer living in Queensland, you are eligible for an additional $1,000 off your electricity bill in addition to the Energy Relief Rebate. The $1,000 will be automatically credited to eligible residential customer bills from starting from July.
To be eligible, residential customers must have an electricity account with their electricity retailer or embedded network provider on 1 July 2024 and be separately metered and charged for their own electricity consumption.
There is no need to apply. The exact timing will depend on individual billing cycles. For more information, please visit Cost of Living Rebate for Households | Community support | Queensland Government.
